Al-Khalili: We are open to partnership with civil society for women's issues, protection and empowerment

A meeting was held between the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Forum for Palestinian NGOs to combat violence against women, at the ministry’s office in Ramallah.
Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, The Minister of Women’s Affairs met with the forum “a Palestinian non-governmental organization against domestic violence against women” (Al Muntada), where she emphasized the Ministry's fundamental role in protecting and supporting women and integrating their issues into various policies, most important of which is relief, empowerment and health.
Al-Khalili pointed out that what the ministry is pushing forward most importantly, is the partnership with other ministries and civil society institutions to be an authentic and active partner present in all matters concerning women.
She added that the Ministry would review priority legislation to enhance women's status, fulfil their rights and give priority to the most important issues such as, women's access to justice, political and economic participation, employment issues, minimum wages, protection, empowerment and combating discrimination.
Moreover, she noted the priority of highlighting violence in all its forms and demanding that the international community investigate violations of the occupation against women, and hold them accountable for its crimes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
Lastly, she stressed that the ministry was determined to advance women's issues through dialogue with ministries, civil society institutions, grass-roots organizations and all partners. Especially in the difficult situation everywhere in the Palestinian territories.
