Al-Khalili: Enhancing cooperation and joint action to increase women's participation in the security sector.

The Minister of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Mona Al-Khalili and the undersecretary of the ministry Mr. Dawood Al-Deek held a meeting with the gender units of the Palestinian security forces, at the Ministry's headquarters today in Ramallah. Where Ms. Al-Khalili commended the achievements of the security sector in integrating women into various security agencies and changing women's stereotypes through their work and leadership in society.
Then, she stressed the need for a joint action to increase women's participation and representation in the security forces at all levels and to enable the security sector to provide protection to women, pointing to ways of partnership and serious cooperation in promoting women's social and cultural awareness along with academic and security awareness, sensitive budgets and gender-sensitive structures.
Also, she added that there has been a progress in the enrolment of the security forces in the various Palestinian security agencies and at different levels, where women’s participation increased from 3% to 7% at ages (20-40).
Lastly, she confirmed that the ministry will continue to provide support for women and ensure greater participation in the security forces among them, despite all challenges and violations of the occupation. Also, to ensure that Palestinian women pursue their struggles with men at all political, social, economic and institutional levels in the belief that equitable and sustainable development will be achieved at the community and family levels only with all capacities and expertise.
