The Ministry of Interior launches gender dialogue session at the security establishment.

The Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih opened on Wednesday the dialogue session under his sponsorship and in cooperation with Palestinian National Security Forces, and the British support team, on “Gender in the security institution” (intima’ w ehtiyaj). And in the presence of the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Dr. Lila Ghanam, the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dr. Amal Hamd, the Director General of Military Medical Services, Major General Doctor Maysoon Al-Banna, and The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Yousef Harb.
Dr. Hamad showed appreciation for this elite of distinguished military ranks and employees, on the state of harmony, and the sense of responsibility to serve the nation and citizen.
Also commended on Palestinian women on their role and participation in all fields of national action, including the security agencies, which affirms their ambition to take their role in building and development.
On his part, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih has conformed His Excellency Mahmoud Abbas' support for women's issues, noting the interest of leadership in adopting supportive decisions for women and increasing their numbers in decision-making positions. Also, noted the importance of working with all national and international partners to promote national compliance with human rights and freedoms, in particular the role and empowerment of women in all functional tasks.
Moreover, Mr. Hab Al-Rih showed the ministry’s willingness to provide all kinds of support for gender units in the security establishment. And to invest all capacities and resources to give women the opportunity to prosperous and advanced reality of Palestinian women.
In turn, Dr. Ghanam valued the role of the Gender Unit in the Ministry of the Interior, and other security agencies and institutions, and emphasized the role of women in resilience, as well as their fundamental role in building the institutions of the Palestinian State.
Then, Nihad Wahdan, gender unit officer of the Ministry of Interior, gave a presentation on the Advisory Committee's achievements in the security forces sector over the last 10 years, where participatory audit was carried out in four security agencies, and a gender strategy was initiated in the security institution after needs surveys were studied.
The session also included 3 interactive sessions involving women's personal experiences, women in processes, and equality gaps.
