Al Khalili meet His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt to enhance ways of cooperation and support women issues and cases.
The minister of women Affairs Ms. Mona Al khalili during her meeting with His Excellency the Ambassador Mr.Bassem Abdel Hadi, Head of the Representative Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Palestine, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, developments in Palestine, and the Ministry’s priorities amid the current challenges.
Al-Khalili outlined the situation of Palestinian women in the face of these challenges and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs main areas of work: protection, empowerment, advocacy, and international engagement. She highlighted the impact of the Israeli military on Palestinian women, particularly in Gaza Strip, including the loss of husbands and children, forced displacement, and increasing social, economic, and psychological challenges. She affirmed that the Ministry continues to respond to women’s needs, strengthen their resilience, and provide the support they need under these circumstances.
Al-Khalili also discussed the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the system for protecting women from violence and to prepare a draft unified Palestinian Personal Status Law for the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including Jerusalem. She further outlined the Ministry’s programmes to promote women’s political and economic empowerment, support small businesses, increase women’s participation in the labour market, and strengthen their presence across all sectors.
For his part, the Ambassador Mr. Bassem Abdel Hadiexpressed his admiration for the resilience of Palestinian women and the Palestinian people and their ability to confront immense challenges. He praised Palestinian women’s contributions across various fields. The Ambassador affirmed that Egypt would continue to stand with the Palestinian cause, which it regards as central to achieving peace and stability. He stressed the deep historical ties between Egypt and the State of Palestine and its people, and Egypt’s commitment to continuing its support for the Palestinian people.
Al-Khalili praised Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its efforts to assist the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza Strip. She stressed the importance of sustaining that support and strengthening bilateral cooperation to advance the rights, protection, and empowerment of Palestinian women.
