Al-Khalili Meets Azzun Association Delegation to Discuss Cooperation in Supporting and Empowering Women

The minister of Women’s Affairs Ms. Mona Al-Khalili met today with a delegation from the Azzun Association for Development, Creativity and Advancement, with the participation of several members of the association’s board and municipal council members from Qalqilya Governorate, to discuss opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise in supporting and empowering women.

Al Khalili displayed the Ministry’s key areas of work, which focus on social protection, protection from the impacts of the occupation, women’s economic empowerment in its various forms, and lobbying and advocacy. She emphasized the importance of strengthening programmes and interventions that respond to women’s needs and support their participation across all fields.

  She highlighted the Ministry’s efforts to coordinate the work of ministries and government institutions concerned with women’s issues, particularly in the topic of combating violence against women, to ensure complementary roles, unified efforts, and a stronger system of protection and response to women’s needs.

The discussion also addressed the importance of increasing women’s representation in decision making position to 30% across all decision-making positions and strengthening their role in decision-making.

Al Khalili also emphasized the important role of community organizations and municipal councils in reaching women across different areas, identifying and recognizing their needs. She noted that collaborative work is essential to supporting and empowering women and strengthening their protection from all forms of violence.

For their part, members of the Azzun Association presented the association’s work and programmes, stressing the importance of strengthening communication and cooperation with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and drawing on its expertise and programmes to develop initiatives that serve women and support their empowerment.

All participants affirmed the importance of continued coordination, the exchange of expertise, and stronger cooperation to serve women and advance efforts to support, empower and protect them across all fields.

It promotes and enhances community development and the empowerment of young people and women through initiatives and activities aimed at building capacities, strengthening community participation, and serving the town’s residents.
